Food poisoning at Torikizoku: three women develop symptoms, store suspended until the 12th

On the 10th, the Koriyama City Public Health Center in Fukushima Prefecture announced that three women in their 20s who ate at the restaurant “Torikizoku Koriyama Nakamachi Yume-dori Store” in Nakamachi, Koriyama, developed food poisoning caused by the bacterium Campylobacter. All three visited medical institutions and are recovering. Based on the Food Sanitation Act, the city health center ordered the store to suspend operations from the 10th through the 12th.

According to the city, three of five people in two groups who ate dishes served at the restaurant on May 26, including salted-cucumber salad, offal with green onion and ponzu, and yakitori gizzard, complained of symptoms such as diarrhea, abdominal pain, and fever. After receiving a report from a medical institution in the city on the 5th, the city conducted an investigation and detected Campylobacter in the stool of those who developed symptoms.

The city says there was no testimony that the customers had eaten undercooked chicken, and it is looking at the possibility of “secondary contamination,” in which food poisoning occurs through hands or cooking utensils that touched ingredients carrying bacteria.

The offal or the gizzard, maybe.

>>3
Probably the cucumber.

4Unknown Japuzz Watcher2026/06/11(Thu) 21:35:30.57 ID: ID:TFTjWKhD0

Again?
These guys are always causing food poisoning.
I don’t think any other chain has outbreaks this often.
Way too sketchy.

6Unknown Japuzz Watcher2026/06/11(Thu) 21:38:34.64 ID: ID:AXNhkPzG0

Yikes.
The fact that it wasn’t caused by undercooked meat makes it even worse.
That means they’re running the place in a seriously filthy and careless environment.
It probably wasn’t the gizzard cooked right before serving, but the quick-menu cucumber or the ponzu offal with green onion.
If that can cause food poisoning, their operation must be insanely sloppy and dirty.

8Unknown Japuzz Watcher2026/06/11(Thu) 21:39:24.32 ID: ID:aHvdkTAS0

Maybe bacteria from the kitchen got onto the cucumbers.

9Unknown Japuzz Watcher2026/06/11(Thu) 21:39:47.66 ID: ID:1pLRHF0Z0

Torikizoku had food poisoning the year before last too.
Two cases last year as well.
I’d be too scared to go to a place like this.

10Unknown Japuzz Watcher2026/06/11(Thu) 21:40:16.96 ID: ID:2LifFeT40

This kind of thing happens even in regular homes.
You really have to be careful around this season.

12Unknown Japuzz Watcher2026/06/11(Thu) 21:42:10.23 ID: ID:gGzU1ocX0

In Koriyama, is this the one that opened this year?
It had a pretty bad reputation.

13Unknown Japuzz Watcher2026/06/11(Thu) 21:42:44.06 ID: ID:ZfpV9f/J0

Toriki is seriously finished.
The staff have bad attitudes too, and the newer stores cheap out on dividers, so the partition bars are all sparse and uncomfortable.

14Unknown Japuzz Watcher2026/06/11(Thu) 21:43:44.27 ID: ID:cx6vmM/x0

No way I’m going to a chain that causes food poisoning at least once every year lol.

I haven’t gone to Torikizoku once since I saw them using burnt skewers to skewer yakitori.

17Unknown Japuzz Watcher2026/06/11(Thu) 21:45:06.25 ID: ID:hmzk/SD30

Young women getting food poisoning from eating some sad 390-yen cucumbers.
Fever, diarrhea, and vomiting, huh.
They’re probably young girls at that age too. Poor things.

18Unknown Japuzz Watcher2026/06/11(Thu) 21:46:15.19 ID: ID:59njk02u0

Chain restaurants are cheap, so of course their main workforce is low-awareness college-student part-timers.

19Unknown Japuzz Watcher2026/06/11(Thu) 21:46:18.68 ID: ID:GwDiW1DA0

It tastes pretty good for a chain, though.

20Unknown Japuzz Watcher2026/06/11(Thu) 21:47:02.49 ID: ID:nNQirTmaa

One opened near me so I tried it, but it definitely wasn’t the “comfortable solo counter” I’d heard rumors about.
There were no dividers, just normal chairs lined up.

21Unknown Japuzz Watcher2026/06/11(Thu) 21:48:32.72 ID: ID:wromXhwN0

Even their website only says “a yakitori restaurant with uniform pricing,” and there’s no price listed anywhere.
I get that it’s uniform pricing, so tell me how many yen it is.
A store this insane from the website stage is one you shouldn’t go to.

23Unknown Japuzz Watcher2026/06/11(Thu) 21:51:42.83 ID: ID:cDX3EK1I0

>>21
Well, it differs by store.
I think, anyway.
That’s pretty normal these days.

22Unknown Japuzz Watcher2026/06/11(Thu) 21:49:43.51 ID: ID:JipSrikO0

If cucumbers can give you food poisoning, I’d be too scared to order cabbage.
Actually, I’m just not going to this place anymore.

24Unknown Japuzz Watcher2026/06/11(Thu) 21:52:58.07 ID: ID:uOUKRRBf0

They probably cut vegetables on the same cutting board they used for raw chicken.
This is the kind of food poisoning case that happens when you leave one part-timer alone in the kitchen.

27Unknown Japuzz Watcher2026/06/11(Thu) 21:57:24.61 ID: ID:EwhHeZVt0

>>24
The skewering is done before opening by the part-timer in charge of skewers, so cutting meat on a board, chopping it up, and putting it on skewers happens in the morning or around noon.

32Unknown Japuzz Watcher2026/06/11(Thu) 22:03:22.63 ID: ID:uOUKRRBf0

>>27
They do skewer during business hours sometimes.
When my order was late, I was told something like “we’re skewering it now.”

33Unknown Japuzz Watcher2026/06/11(Thu) 22:06:11.99 ID: ID:0RpVU4jr0

>>32
Liar detected.

If you were told that when your order was late, that means you called the staff over after it wasn’t coming and said, “My order still hasn’t arrived,” right?
There is absolutely no way the answer would be “we’re skewering it now.”
You complain because it’s late and at that point they’re still skewering it? lol, that’s definitely a lie.
At least make up something more believable.

34Unknown Japuzz Watcher2026/06/11(Thu) 22:08:48.67 ID: ID:3s9DtgGF0

>>33
Yeah, that’s definitely weird.
Also, I don’t think they skewer during business hours.
If they did, it would be extremely rare, and they’d probably mark it temporarily out of stock.

“When my order was late, they said they were skewering it now.”

That absolutely did not happen.

26Unknown Japuzz Watcher2026/06/11(Thu) 21:56:18.44 ID: ID:0qb8ap0Sd

They probably aren’t changing knives between chicken and cucumber.

28Unknown Japuzz Watcher2026/06/11(Thu) 21:58:04.31 ID: ID:0S1dVbKl0

So it was the utensils, not the ingredients?
Get your act together.

29Unknown Japuzz Watcher2026/06/11(Thu) 21:59:30.39 ID: ID:+JBCDr6p0

They’ve had food poisoning so many times before, and now again?

30Unknown Japuzz Watcher2026/06/11(Thu) 22:02:21.49 ID: ID:CD1Pw1dr0

Rats and cockroaches are gross too, but at least you can see them.
The food poisoning this place keeps causing hits you afterward, which is the annoying part.

31Unknown Japuzz Watcher2026/06/11(Thu) 22:03:11.95 ID: ID:sydnV3500

The fact that the cause wasn’t the yakitori is way too bad.
That’s filthy as hell.

I got food poisoning when I ate Jiro the other day. Where do I go to get it in the news like this?
I did tell the hospital properly that it happened after eating at that place.

36Unknown Japuzz Watcher2026/06/11(Thu) 22:11:22.97 ID: ID:2JmAwVVy0

>>35
A Toriki believer who has never eaten Jiro is randomly blaming Jiro just because “that sounds like something that would happen there,” lol.

39Unknown Japuzz Watcher2026/06/11(Thu) 22:12:47.82 ID: ID:cDX3EK1I0

>>35
It won’t make the news unless it’s group food poisoning.
Jiro customers eat there assuming their stomachs will get wrecked,
so I don’t think many of them go to the hospital.

48Unknown Japuzz Watcher2026/06/11(Thu) 22:22:36.24 ID: ID:XI7YiN7A0

58Unknown Japuzz Watcher2026/06/11(Thu) 22:34:05.85 ID: ID:6sSFoJaK0

The worst part is that it wasn’t raw-meat related.
It means that’s the kind of environment they’re cooking in.

I get it.
Undercooked meat would at least be a one-off accident.
This is proof that they’re usually careless about reusing cooking tools and washing hands.

62Unknown Japuzz Watcher2026/06/11(Thu) 22:36:18.73 ID: ID:atq1tqyK0

People in their 20s and 30s these days have weak guts, so even raw vegetables carry risk.

Their homepage is being intentionally made heavy again.
Whenever something happens, it stays heavy for over a month.

When they screwed up with the all-you-can-eat-and-drink thing a few months ago, it was heavy for ages afterward too.
It’s heavy even late at night, so it’s not access traffic. They’re deliberately making it hard to connect.

That’s the scariest and most troublesome one.

Even when food poisoning happens, young people only drink at Torikizoku like they’re one-trick idiots.
It’s already drilled into them that drinking party = Torikizoku.
College students have so few options that you’d think none of them have ever drunk anywhere besides Torikizoku.
Current college students don’t even think about the option of drinking somewhere other than Torikizoku.
