You should definitely watch Kiyoshi Kurosawa’s “Chime”.
I’m not sure if it’ll be available for streaming, but if it is, check it out.
It’s a short 45-minute horror film that keeps you in a state of unease completely different from your typical jump scares.

I just remembered, The Funhouse was interesting.
It’s about 5 people hiding in a haunted house at an amusement park while a serial killer who escaped prison kills regular customers.
It’s more on the slasher side.

I felt the first theatrical version of Ju-On had the highest level of perfection.
Though I think the video version was scarier.
Also, I liked Noroi (The Curse).
It was the first work where I learned about the term “mockumentary”.
I’m not sure if “Hoso Kinshi” (Broadcast Forbidden) counts as horror, but I like it too.
