I know it’s silly to expect realism in 2D media, but if it lacks any semblance of reality, I just find myself completely turned off.

It’s not about the magic itself, but I honestly can’t handle the battle scenes anymore. Unless it feels like a tabletop game or something similar, I just can’t watch it.

It doesn’t really matter if I watch them or not, but they make great sleep aids before bed. Every show is basically the same anyway, and none of it really matters.

What about Demon Slayer?

That’s one franchise I still haven’t touched at all. Though, ever since I found out about the fate of the Love Hashira and Serpent Hashira, I’ve been a bit curious about that part.

It’s pretty shallow, though.

If the story doesn’t unfold within a clearly established system, I just think, “The author is just making this up as they go along…”
It’s like playing a board game and suddenly someone introduces a move for a piece that you’ve never heard of. Battle scenes in shonen manga are basically just a contest of “convenient retcons” anyway.

Hunter x Hunter is a bit egregious in that regard.

Actually, I’ve reached the point where I can’t watch realistic stuff. If I watched something like Blue Box, I’d probably die from the cringe.

I’m actually the opposite; I like those. I read “Your Lie in April” in the last few years and it made me cry and ache inside.

I’ve reached the point where I only watch Isekai if the heroine gets attacked by tentacles.

Regardless of whether it’s realistic or not, I’ve ended up only watching stuff that focuses on character interactions and psychological depth in scenarios that feel grounded in reality.

I feel you.
Around my late 20s, I stopped being able to watch school-life anime. It’s actually kind of sad.

I’ve actually come back to school-life stuff, in a way.
But the vibe is a bit different from what I used to watch. I can’t stand stuff like “My Mental Choices Are Completely Interfering With My School Romantic Comedy,” “To Love Ru,” or “Saekano” anymore.

I stopped watching “delinquent” (yankee) shows. They’re boring.
Honestly, those shows are just bad in general. It’s always just fighting, bike gangs, and territory disputes, right? It’s all so cliché and dull.

It’s like when you used to love sweets, but eventually, your body just stops accepting them. You don’t intend to hate them, but your body just reacts negatively to them.

I see.

Is it like how I used to love Ultraman, but now when I watch it, I don’t feel any excitement—I just think, “Wow, that’s just bullying…”?

I hear you.
Sentai shows are the same for me.

If I had watched “Monthly Girls’ Nozaki-kun” back in the day, I wonder if I would’ve been into it or not.

Gags are safe to read. Recently I’ve been reading “Utsuranain desu.”

Watching Kochikame on YouTube really makes me think, “Wow, I really have gotten old.”
65 Name: Unknown Japuzz Watcher 投稿日:26/06/30(火) 11:16:42 ID:QbAP
I can’t watch “friendship-themed” stuff.

– “Status Open!”
– The heroine falling head-over-heels for the protagonist immediately.
If a show has this in the first episode, I drop it.

Mushoku Tensei ← Can watch
That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime ← Barely
Re:Zero ← Impossible
You get it?

I kinda get it.
For example, watching the second half of the final episode of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, where they repeat the same day over and over… I don’t think I could watch that again. I can’t take it.

I guess that’s the typical “grasshopper” mentality of someone who doesn’t want to work hard.

I hate it when a character who usually acts aloof suddenly goes all-out and crushes the enemy. It used to be good because it happened rarely, but lately, it feels like they’re just mass-producing it.

I enjoyed watching these all the way through back then, but I’m not sure if I’d enjoy them now:
Steins;Gate and Madoka Magica.
