It has been revealed that the Shizuoka Prefectural Police have arrested a 30-year-old former deputy branch manager of Seishin Credit Union in Shizuoka City for swindling money entrusted by a customer. The credit union had previously announced that the man had embezzled 180 million yen from customer accounts.

The 30-year-old man, who was in charge of sales at the Mochimune branch, is suspected of swindling approximately 60 million yen from accounts between November two years ago and December last year by making fraudulent sales pitches, pretending to transfer funds to high-interest fixed-term deposits.

So they’re claiming the bank isn’t responsible because it was an individual’s action?

How did he get past the “long vacation” audit? Do they not audit deputy branch managers?

The scariest part about this is that if they treat it as an individual crime, the money doesn’t come back. Total despair.

It always starts light: “I’ll win it back with gambling and return it, they won’t notice in the short term.” Then they keep losing, try to win it back, hit rock bottom, and then just escape into gambling and luxury to ignore reality.

This came out because it was 180 million, but I bet there’s tons of stuff handled internally within financial institutions when it’s just around 1 million.

You lose 100% of the time in gambling, so if you’re going as far as borrowing money from others, you’re bound for ruin.
