Jensen Huang, CEO of US-based NVIDIA, visited China, Taiwan, and South Korea in May-June, bypassing Japan. This suggests not only a decline in Japan’s competitiveness in the semiconductor industry but also the risk of Japan falling behind in the AI revolution.

“Taiwan is at the heart of the AI revolution,” and “I came to thank our partners in South Korea,” Huang praised during his visits to Taiwan and South Korea from late May to early June.

The last time this CEO visited Japan, Japan gave him an extremely rude reception.
It’s not surprising, it’s only natural.

Japan: “NVIDIA? CEO? Not sure about that, but we’ll seat you in a cramped, dirty room on a folding chair~ lol”

Thanks for the detailed explanation.
This is bad. It’s not like I’m asking for G7-level hospitality, but this is too low-class.
Although, even among Japanese people, such rude behavior is quite common.

Well, he wasn’t invited and had no reason to go, so of course he’d skip it.
Why is everyone acting like “Why just Japan…”?

If you read the article in detail, it simply says “Japan is not needed.”

What is up with Japan’s contempt for engineers?

In the end, it’s the sales and management people who move up, not those who understand production and development.

But why did we lose in semiconductors?
We dominated the top rankings in the 80s.
Is it the price of devaluing engineers?

Is it because bureaucrats, management, and the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology are mostly in the humanities in general terms? I don’t know.

It’s also because we couldn’t allocate development budgets properly during the recessions of the 90s and beyond.

Taiwan is indeed the center, so it’s understandable that he skipped Japan.

It’s hilarious how, after using tax money to educate Japan’s top minds, they all flock to consulting and trading firms.

Honestly, I think this is the era where AI will be increasingly developed and incompetents will be weeded out.
In that sense, I’m a bit worried about Japan as a whole, being too incompetent when it comes to AI.

No, no.
Do all VIPs have to pass through Japan every time they travel?
That’s not the case, is it?
