Bottled water prices have gone up, so it’s actually the people who DON’T have a contract who are clueless.

Look at this guy with an ID like “AQUOS” lol

Look at this guy with an ID like “ZOOM”

I just drink tap water, obviously.

Is… a water purifier not good enough?

6 Name: Unknown Japuzz Watcher[] Date: 07/03/26(Fri) 16:19:25 ID:RHiR
I stopped using them after seeing how moldy the inside was when changing the bottle at work.

Yikes…

This is so true.

They seem useful when the water supply is cut off by an earthquake, but if the tap is running, you don’t really need one.

I already buy bottles for emergency disaster supplies anyway.

The real “smart” move is getting a water server that connects directly to the tap or uses a refillable tank so you don’t have to keep buying subscriptions for new water bottles.

It would be okay if they replaced the whole machine for you, I guess.

Isn’t it a pain to clean? I heard they get moldy.

They just send you a filter replacement part every six months, so you just swap it out.

How much does that cost, anyway?

Between 3,000 and 4,500 yen.

26 Name: Unknown Japuzz Watcher[] Date: 07/03/26(Fri) 16:24:46 ID:G2w9
So that’s 36,000 to 54,000 yen a year.
360k to 540k over 10 years.
1.08 million to 1.62 million over 30 years.

I do think having hot water ready instantly is nice, though.

24 Name: Unknown Japuzz Watcher[] Date: 07/03/26(Fri) 16:24:34 ID:fEdB
It’s gross, I don’t want one.

My younger brother got a sales call, turned it down, and they sent it to him anyway. When he called them, they said “You agreed to this, didn’t you?” and charged him a cancellation fee.

Bottled water is the only way to go.

30 Name: Unknown Japuzz Watcher[] Date: 07/03/26(Fri) 16:25:40 ID:KA5w
Just stick to tap water.

31 Name: Unknown Japuzz Watcher[] Date: 07/03/26(Fri) 16:25:46 ID:uVfY
Bottled water is way cheaper, lmao. Unless you have a specific reason to hate bottled water, there’s no reason to sign a contract.

I go to the local supermarket; they have free RO pure water you can fill up on.

33 Name: Unknown Japuzz Watcher[] Date: 07/03/26(Fri) 16:26:53 ID:OoLT
I don’t want to put something that huge in my room.

Tabletop models the size of a shoebox are the mainstream now, dude.

I wonder if replacing the filter is enough to stop mold.

With rainy season coming up, and then summer vacation for companies… If you leave a water server sitting there unused for a few days, mold or bacteria could grow in all the water pathways from the intake to the output, basically anywhere that’s damp.

If you live with multiple people and want more convenience, I think it’s fine. If you’re worried about cost-effectiveness, then no.

40 Name: Unknown Japuzz Watcher[] Date: 07/03/26(Fri) 16:30:55 ID:6hIT
Sorry, but isn’t tap water fine?

42 Name: Unknown Japuzz Watcher[] Date: 07/03/26(Fri) 16:32:09 ID:EbhR
But if you’re going to say that, the water pipes themselves haven’t been replaced in forever either.

For direct-tap purifiers, you have to buy the ones where the water comes out immediately after being purified, otherwise mold builds up really badly between the filter and the faucet.
