Popular voice actor Tomokazu Seki (53) appeared on the NTV program “Odoru! Sanma Goten!!” broadcast on the 30th. He revealed that when he was cast as the lead character Shinichi Chiaki in the popular anime “Nodame Cantabile,” he was met with disappointment from fellow female voice actors.
First, Yuko Miyamura revealed, “When a shojo manga I really loved was turned into an anime, I was so excited, wondering who would be cast. Then I heard it was Seki-kun, and I was just disappointed.”
Hearing this, Seki replied, “I’m so sorry.” He continued, “Speaking of which, back then, I played the lead, Shinichi Chiaki, in ‘Nodame Cantabile.’ Noriko Hidaka loved the series, and at the studio, she was all excited, saying, ‘I heard Nodame is getting an anime!’ When she asked, ‘Who’s playing Nodame?’ and heard ‘Ayako Kawasumi-chan,’ she said ‘That’s perfect!’ But when she asked ‘Who’s playing Chiaki-senpai?’ and I, who was standing right behind her, said, ‘Sorry, that’s me,’ she screamed, ‘No wayyyy! Ughhh!'”

The voice actors matched the image perfectly, and it was pretty good aside from the butchered Paris arc. The live-action version… the cast fit the image, but the script was terrible.
