I’m so sick of dealing with helicopter parents and these bratty kids.
They cry on their own, then blame me for it. It’s truly exhausting.
And the higher-up coaches won’t deal with them, so they just push them onto me, the young guy.

Even if I want to quit, I owe so much to the head coach that it’s hard to tell him.

That sounds tough.
Guiding others is hard work, but hang in there.

Thanks…
I don’t hold it against the kids, but I can’t forgive the parents even if I die.
They pin the responsibility of a loss on me. Like, how is a kid who’s only been training for a few months supposed to beat the #1 seed? Give me a break.

LMAO

Honestly, it’s hilarious (in a sad way).
The #1 seed kid practices so hard it looks like he does it every day. My guys have barely been at it for a few months, just starting to move properly. Of course they can’t win. Do these parents think this is some isekai anime or something?

I’m doing this basically as a volunteer, so I can’t imagine how hard it is for school teachers who do this for a living…

Are you raising a bunch of spineless Gen Z kids?

I’m Gen Z too, actually.
Though I hear they’re calling us Gen Alpha now.

What will you do if you quit?

I love fishing, so maybe I’ll go do that.
I’ve been skipping overtime to go fishing on weeknights, and the schedule is always: practice Saturday morning, tournament Sunday. I’m burnt out.

Just quit by saying you’re “taking responsibility.”

I tried that once.
They made me the manager, we got good enough to win awards, but the ringleader of the helicopter parents said, “It’s all your fault,” so I said, “Fine, I’ll take responsibility and quit.”
Then the higher-ups were like, “No, no, we can’t have that,” and forced me to smooth things over with the parents.

I’m in my early 20s, I wish they’d appreciate that I’m doing all this for them. I’m putting in so much effort into a youth sports team in a place where I’m not even from.

Thanks for your hard work.
My kid plays soccer and has been helped by volunteers, so I really respect people like you.

Please treat the coaches well…
They are genuinely sacrificing their own free time…
Unless they’re absolute fanatics about the sport.

I drive the kids around in my car for hours, and I don’t even get gas money. I’m so done with this. Die, you shitty helicopter parents.

I’m always impressed by the managers and coaches of youth baseball teams.
They even came to watch my kid’s high school games.

Seriously. I’ve played that sport for 20 years and have been helped by so many adults, but honestly, people who can do this indefinitely are, in the nicest way possible, crazy.

Why did you want to become a coach in the first place? Did you want to be a P.E. teacher?

23 Name: Unknown Japuzz Watcher[] Date: 06/29/26(Mon) 09:51:26 ID:OEJo

I didn’t exactly aim for it. Someone who helped me out in the past found out I moved here and tracked me down. He begged me to be a coach and I couldn’t refuse.
When you’ve played a sport for 20 years, you end up knowing a lot of people whether you like it or not.

It’s basically volunteer work, so if you’ve had enough, I think it’s best to just quit.

I really think that too, and I’ve tried to suggest quitting many times.
But I feel a sense of debt and duty that I have to fulfill. I know it’s annoying for everyone involved, including myself.

You’ve already taken on the role once and won awards, so I’d say you’ve fulfilled your duty. If you’re staying just because you think you “have to finish what you started,” that’s not about duty anymore, that’s just unnecessary pressure.

Thanks…
That honestly makes me want to cry. I haven’t heard a single word of gratitude from those helicopter parents in years.

Hang in there.
The external coach at my kid’s junior high was like that, and I felt so bad for him.
He was a bit of a meathead, but he was a good guy. In my kid’s generation, other parents would step in to stop the helicopter parents, or the dads would go out for drinks to vent and handle it.
The generation below ours, though, had moms clearly ganging up on the coaches.

There are good, normal parents who care, but I was told that some parents are just jealous that a young guy who is pretty skilled and well-known came in.
I think they’re just small-minded people who can’t stand being taught by someone younger and need to feel superior.

25 Name: Unknown Japuzz Watcher[] Date: 06/29/26(Mon) 09:53:20 ID:OEJo
I want to leak their long text messages. They keep sending me “valuable advice” about “education” which is really just code for “spoil my kid.” I’m so done.

27 Name: Unknown Japuzz Watcher[] Date: 06/29/26(Mon) 09:55:42 ID:CL3Z
It must be hell with social media making everything worse these days.
As a parent, I really respect you.

It’s blatant. If I don’t follow them on Instagram, they grill me about it. Or they make sure I’m not in any of the photos they post. (The latter is actually a relief, though.)
The kids like me, so the contrast with their parents makes me want to snap.

The era of “just hit them to make them understand if they don’t listen” is long gone, huh… Good luck.

No, some parents still say that. But if you actually try to do it, everyone else starts whining, so it’s a hassle.
I even had parents complain about kids doing training that made them breathe hard.
