Spending 1.5 times your entire life so far in prison… that’s beyond the limits of my imagination.

It’s hard to tell from the outside whether this is better or worse than the death penalty.

Spending the most fun years of your life in prison…
If it were me, I’d just hang myself.

Maybe they’re just feeling numb, thinking, “30 years…?”
5 Name: Unknown Japuzz Watcher[] Posted: 26/06/26(Fri) 21:43:32 ID:fhS9
They did what they did, so it’s reasonable.

Reports said Kawamura showed almost no reaction when the sentence was handed down.
Maybe it’s a mix of fatigue from the long trial, resignation, and a lack of connection to reality.
7 Name: Unknown Japuzz Watcher[] Posted: 26/06/26(Fri) 21:46:38 ID:TO7S
It’s like being told you aren’t worth being part of society anymore.
8 Name: Unknown Japuzz Watcher[] Posted: 26/06/26(Fri) 21:46:55 ID:qo2d
They probably expected life in prison, so they might even be secretly relieved.

Maybe relieved in the moment, but the despair will hit once the trial is actually over.

Well, I think it’ll take until next year for them to really accept and understand it.

If it were only 5 years, they might harm others again, so keeping them under wraps while they’re young is necessary.

There’ll be flying cars in 30 years.

Seriously, the current Gen Z is so smartphone-dependent that just being without one is torture.
27 Name: Unknown Japuzz Watcher[] Posted: 26/06/26(Fri) 21:55:05 ID:xBq5

But wouldn’t that only be tough for the first 1-2 months?
It’s already been a year and a half since the arrest, surely they’re used to it by now.

Is the sentence final now?
I don’t know much about the law, but if they aren’t satisfied, couldn’t they ask for a retrial?

If either the prosecution or the defendant objects to the verdict within 14 days, an appellate trial will be held. If neither does, it ends at the district court level.
You can technically request a retrial while serving, but the chances of it being granted are extremely low.

Poor thing, 30 years at 21…
If they were out, they could have all sorts of great experiences.
Like having a deep kiss with me, riding a ferris wheel at an amusement park…
It must be painful to miss out on those wonderful experiences for 30 years…

There’s something weird mixed in there…
44 Name: Unknown Japuzz Watcher[] Posted: 26/06/26(Fri) 22:00:39 ID:xBq5
Honestly, if it were me, I’d rather they just kill me.

Not being able to eat ice cream or snacks for 31 years after committing a crime would drive anyone crazy.

Haha, 31 (Thirty-one) years! I get it!
70 Name: Unknown Japuzz Watcher[] Posted: 26/06/26(Fri) 22:05:49 ID:PelC
And you’re living with strangers for 30 years with almost no entertainment, no favorite foods, and no alcohol, right?
That’s enough to lose your mind.

Though in women’s prisons, most people are only there for 3-5 year “pee-breaks” (short sentences), so the faces keep changing, which might keep things fresh.
And you end up becoming the veteran in the room.

I heard that actually makes it much harder.
They say those types often try to provoke or tease people just to cause trouble.

Can’t you at least use the internet in prison?
You can’t even access On-J (online 2ch)?

You can’t use it at all.

Are you trying to start a war with the Nintendo fans?

It’s crazy to be in prison longer than you’ve actually been alive.

If someone tells you 30 years, you probably can’t live unless you switch to “prison life mode.”
You just have to give up on everything you wanted to do, travel, all of it.
On the flip side, you might achieve enlightenment.
But if you can’t let go, it must be brutal. Then again, I feel like you’d get used to it pretty quickly.
