Same here, but if you buy games at his level, the hassle of swapping discs is just too high.
He’s an extreme outlier, so he’s not a good example for the average user. I’m sure he knows that too.

I switched to digital-only after my original PS4 had that disc-ejection glitch where it would eject the disc mid-game.

Because of that, I don’t really care if physical discs disappear. If it hadn’t been for that glitch, I might still be a physical-copy diehard and throwing a fit right now, so I’m actually grateful for the glitch.

Meanwhile, thousands of foreigners are absolutely furious.

Anyone who talks about this without distinguishing between ROMs and optical media is an idiot. ^ ^

I buy games I play every day like Animal Crossing digitally, and everything else physically.

Swapping media is a pain.
That’s why I’m digital-only.
The Switch and Switch 2 don’t have much internal storage, so I’d love an external HDD.
I don’t even need to be able to launch games directly from it, just use it as a warehouse.

But the question is, what does that look like in the market as a whole?
We often see patterns where a game sells so well digitally that they start selling physical copies too, which means there’s enough value to justify the cost of doing so.

Taking the pinnacle of a collector/enthusiast as an example makes it look like it’s super niche.

This is the normal perspective.
You shouldn’t cater to a noisy minority.

I mean, usually, the games I want aren’t sold in stores anyway, and even old games at shops are expensive, whereas digital sales are cheaper.

Some people just have a knee-jerk reaction based on vague, biased imagery.
It’s like the people who couldn’t get on the bandwagon for cashless payments, the same type of people criticizing this.

Personally, I’m digital and subscription-based, so it doesn’t really affect me.
In the sense that users are losing options, it’s not a great feeling. But if it’s for collection purposes, I feel like Switch physical copies will be fine for at least 10 years, so I don’t really worry about it. I’m not a collector, though, just my personal take.
